I just submitted my last chapter for 2020 and it stirred up some sentimentality for the year that could have been. Like many of you, I have lost friends to COVID while celebrating the miraculous recoveries of other. I've fretted about my job during this pandemic and worried (and tried to support remotely) friends who have lost their jobs during this past year. All that we may have hoped for this year has been turned on its head and much of 2021 won't be much different. But together, we are stronger and we can get through this.
For the next year, things look exciting (career-wise and with my writing). A character has exited the Mayfield universe and pops up in Dr. Meijer's office and East Harbor Middle School. One of Derek's friends from the Sea Saber swim team returns from his Spring Break trip to Mayfield with a new perspective. Michael will find a boyfriend. The boys go on vacation and end up entangled in a murder investigation. And perhaps what I'm most excited about in the coming year, the Yard Goats baseball team from Mayfield will be visiting East Harbor! I know I haven't written more than the first chapter of Derek's story, but you will want to read that. Jack, Jaden, and the rest of Derek's friends are going to be popping up in Michael's story so read up to learn more about those boys.
If you've been impacted by the economy or the pandemic, I hope The Boys of East Harbor have given you an escape. Have a fantastic holiday season no matter which holidays you choose to celebrate. I'm also wishing you a joyous and love-filled 2021.
Be safe, be well, and keep reading!
The happiest of holidays to you! You provided us with so much escape and joy this year. Thank you!
